THE ROLE OF LEADERSHIP IN STRATEGIC PLANNING
This research explores the role of leadership in strategic planning. Objectives are: (1) to assess the impact of leadership on the strategic planning process, (2) to analyze the relationship between leadership and strategic decision-making, and (3) to identify best practices for integrating leadership into strategic planning. A survey design is chosen for its ability to provide quantitative insights from numerous respondents. Using Taro Yamane's formula, the sample size is 340, ensuring accuracy and reliability. The study focuses on the banking sector in Lagos, Nigeria, where strategic planning is essential. The reliability coefficient score is 0.87, indicating consistent results. Findings reveal that transformational and participative leadership styles significantly enhance strategic planning, promoting a culture of collaboration and long-term thinking. Recommendations include implementing leadership development programs that focus on strategic planning skills and promoting a culture of strategic thinking to enhance strategic planning processes.
